Md. Jahirul Islam is a singer, songwriter, poet, and social development worker from Barishal, Bangladesh. He is also a Bacon Award recipient for his outstanding work in remote and marginalized communities.

Born in Mollarhat Union, Nalchity Upazila, Jhalokathi District, Jahirul Islam grew up with a deep passion for music, scouting, and creative writing. From his early years, he was involved with Bangladesh Scouts, B.S.C.C., and various cultural activities under Bangladesh Betar (Radio Bangladesh).

His creative journey began in 2003 with his debut novel “Smriti Sukher Ba Dukhher Hok, Shobshomoy Korun” (“Be it a Happy or Sad Memory, Always Compassionate”). Over the years, he has written more than 200 poems and 100 songs, many of which reflect social awareness, regional pride, and human emotion.

One of his most popular songs is “Fortune Barishal”, dedicated to the BPL cricket team Fortune Barishal, for which he wrote the lyrics, composed the tune, and performed as the singer himself.
